UV Oiled Care

UV Oiled floor cleaning & maintenance

Cleaning and maintaining a UV-oiled floor is essential to keep it looking beautiful and in good condition. UV-oiled floors are popular because they offer the natural look of wood while being relatively low maintenance. Here are some steps to clean and maintain your UV-oiled floor:

   Regular Cleaning:

  • Sweep or vacuum the floor regularly to remove dust and dirt, which can act like abrasive grit over time.
  • Use a microfibre mop or a soft, damp cloth to clean the surface. Avoid using excessive water, as this can damage the wood cleaning products such as Osmo wash and care or WOCA soap or similar may be used

   Spot Cleaning:

  • For spills or stains, clean them up immediately with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or excessive water.
  • If you have tough stains, you can use a pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner, following the manufacturer's instructions.

   Avoid Excess Moisture:

  • Excess moisture can damage your UV-oiled floor. Wipe up spills quickly, and use a damp (not wet) mop when cleaning.
  • Do not use steam cleaners, as they can introduce too much moisture.

   Furniture Protection:

  • Place felt or soft rubber protectors under the legs of furniture to prevent scratches and dents.

   Rugs and Mats:

  • Use rugs or mats at entrance ways to minimize the amount of dirt and grit brought into the space. Make sure the rugs have a non-slip backing to avoid scratches.

Avoid High Heels and Sharp Objects:

  • High heels, pets' claws, and sharp objects can scratch the surface, so be mindful of these on your UV-oiled floor.

  Regular Maintenance:

  • Periodically, you may need to reapply a maintenance oil such as WOCA or Osmo maintenance oil to refresh the finish. This should be done when you notice signs of wear or light scratches. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance.

   UV Oiled Floor-Specific Products:

  • Some manufacturers produce specific cleaning and maintenance products for UV-oiled floors. Using these can help prolong the life of the finish.

   Avoid Abrasive Cleaning Tools:

  • Never use abrasive cleaning tools like steel wool or abrasive scrub pads, as they can damage the UV oil finish.

    Protect Against Direct Sunlight:

  • UV rays from direct sunlight can fade the colour of your floor over time. Use curtains or blinds to protect your floor from excessive sunlight.

    Regular Inspection:

  • Periodically inspect your UV-oiled floor for any signs of damage or wear, and address any issues promptly to prevent further damage.

Remember that different brands of UV-oiled floors may have specific care and maintenance instructions, so it's a good idea to consult the manufacturer's guidelines for your particular flooring product. Proper care and maintenance can significantly extend the life and beauty of your UV-oiled floor.
